Questions people ask
How long should a title and meta description be?
There is no fixed rule, because search engines cut text by pixel width. As a guide, titles of about 50 to 60 characters and descriptions of about 120 to 160 characters usually show in full. The tool warns you when you go past that.
Does the meta keywords tag help rankings?
No. Google has said it does not use it. It is optional here only because some other systems still read it.
What does the canonical tag do?
It tells search engines which address is the main version of a page when the same content is reachable at several URLs, for example with tracking parameters. Use the full https:// address of the preferred version.
Will these tags guarantee a better ranking?
No tag can promise that. Good titles and descriptions help people choose your result, and the canonical and robots tags prevent mistakes, but ranking depends on the content and many other signals.
