Questions people ask
How do I find a percentage of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. 15% of 2,000 is 2,000 x 15 / 100 = 300.
How is percentage change worked out?
Subtract the old value from the new one, divide by the old value and multiply by 100. Going from 800 to 1,000 is a 25% increase. Going back from 1,000 to 800 is a 20% decrease, not 25%, because the base changes.
Why can't I work out a change from zero?
A percentage compares against the old value. Dividing by zero has no answer, so the tool tells you instead of showing infinity.
