Questions people ask
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit divided by the selling price. Markup is profit divided by the cost. Buying at Rs 80 and selling at Rs 100 gives Rs 20 profit: a 20% margin and a 25% markup.
How do I price for a 30% margin?
Divide the cost by 0.70. A cost of Rs 700 needs a selling price of Rs 1,000. Adding 30% to the cost would give only a 23% margin.
Does the result include GST and other costs?
No. It uses the cost and price you enter. Include packaging, shipping, payment fees and returns in your cost, and add GST on top of the price on the invoice.
