Questions people ask

How do I write the year 2025 in Roman numerals?
MMXXV: MM is 2000, XX is 20 and V is 5.
Why does it reject IIII or VX?
Standard Roman numerals use subtraction for 4 (IV) and 9 (IX), and V, L and D are never repeated or subtracted. The tool only accepts the standard form so that every numeral has one meaning.
Why does it stop at 3,999?
The standard letters give no symbol for 5,000, so MMMCMXCIX (3,999) is the largest number written in plain Roman numerals.
