What should I put in source, medium and campaign?
Source is where the visit comes from (instagram, newsletter). Medium is the type of channel (social, email, cpc). Campaign is the name of the promotion (diwali-sale). Keep spellings consistent so reports group correctly.
Should values be lower case?
It is wise. Analytics treats Instagram and instagram as different values. The tool lowercases for you by default.
Can I use UTM links on my own site's internal links?
Avoid it. UTM tags on links inside your own site start a new session and overwrite the real source.
Does a UTM link change the page?
No, the visitor sees the same page. The extra part of the address is only read by analytics.
