Cash memo format
A cash memo is the bill a shop hands over when the customer pays on the spot.
When to use it
- Counter sales paid in cash or UPI on the spot.
- Small shops not registered under GST.
- Registered shops use a tax invoice instead, or a bill of supply under composition.
What it must show
- Shop name, address and phone
- Memo number and date
- Customer name (optional for small sales)
- Items, quantity, rate and amount
- Total in figures and words
- Signature or stamp
Good to know
- Keep a carbon copy or PDF of every memo for your books.
- If you are registered under GST, the memo must be a tax invoice with GST details.
